AFTERLIFE

MY DESCRIPTION:

Afterlife is a short film directed by Jared Hogan. In the third week of my Digital Cinematography class Jared asked me if I would be the director of photography for his Directing the Narrative class final. We worked together conceptualizing, and planning out each shot. After a few camera tests, we decided that the best camera for the job was the CineAlta F900, the same camera used by George Lucas to shoot the most recent Star Wars. After even more camera tests, we decided that since the film was going to need a very stylized look, it would be best to shoot the footage with a “blank”, unbiased look. The best way to visualize this is to picture a blank canvas. Anything can be painted upon a picture with minimal in-camera settings. The only in-camera adjustment made was a small amount of black “crushing”.
